Quick Reheating Question [Chicken Curry]

Basically cooked chicken in the fridge for two days - you could eat it cold tbh.

If you heat it up though, as others have said, heat it up good and hot, better yto leave it stand for a moment than not heat it up enough.

With chicken you have to cook it again.
Sounds silly, you have to cook it as if it was from raw.

Thats not my words, but the words of the Worrell Thompson.

I've never had chicken more than a day old. But I assume two days shouldn't hurt.

I predict Gilly coming into this thread all guns blazing describing his distaste with curries :)

it'll be fine, I wouldn't even be worried about heating it up fully.

never had any problems reheating rice, remember most of these warnings are for stuff which happens one in a trillion times.

No Gilly loves a nice curry :o

As you can tell from my beer thread I'm a single bloke so when I cook a curry I make enough for 2 meals and normally have it day or 2 after.

Reheat it on the cooker until its piping hot and never had a problem.

*looks at his wallet*
All this talk about curries makes me hungry, think I will have a curry tonight :p
You should be fine with the chicken, heat it well and hopefully it will not be too dry.

I've heard that reheating rice can cause food poisoning. Is this true?

It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.

It's best to serve rice when it has just been cooked. If that isn't possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within one hour) and keep it in the fridge for no more than one day until reheating.

Remember that when you reheat any food, you should always check that it's piping hot all the way through, and avoid reheating more than once.

Just eaten and now I'm hungry for a curry!
Reheat it until hot through as above. Leave to stand for a bit afterwards since it will still be heating through.
Reheated rice - always done it with day old currys with no problem.
