Quick remapping question!

Anything with the VAG TDI130 engine in is worth a look. So that's Golfs, Leons, Toledos, Boras, Passats as well.
Remaps to 170bhp IIRC.

just about any PD engine really.

if you do remap and have a camblet driven car be careful as the extra torque shock greatly increases the forces on the cambelt.

Also cars fitted with the insanely stupid exhaust particulate filters are also a issue, the more fuel produces more black smoke which can clog the filters faster then regen can take place.

Remapping on a turbo engine can work well.

Remapping an N/A engine is a waste of time, unless it is tuned quite well first (breathing sorted inc. exhaust, cams etc).

If you want more power on an N/A buy a bigger engine:)

THIS in as nutshell

Save your money if it's Naturally Aspirated and spend it on beer, trust me. ;)

It's a 2 litre diesel and will gain between 15 and 25 bhp depending on the map.

However, given the fragility of the injectors a remap might not be the best idea in the world. If it was a VAG then I'd not hesitate, but the toyota D4D isn't the most robust engine from my own experience, and this is seconded by a few people on the toyota owners club forums.

As said in the thread anything with the VAG TDI 130 engine is going to map great and give you great mpg.
Just watch out as you'll need your clutch replaced more often (increased torque rapes the stock clutch) unless you buy an uprated clutch.
