Quick resolution question

Just changed over to the HP w2207 monitor from a 19" CRT.

I forgot to go and change all the resolutions in my games -_-

Now get signal out of range error when I try and load up, some of these games do not have settings until you get into the game.

Whats the command I add to my shortcuts to set a res?

There isn't a generic command that will work with all games AFAIK.

You may want to list the games you are having problems with or you may want to check in the game directory for .ini files which is often where you'll find the resolution settings.

Failing that you may just need to re-install the game.

Also check that your monitor is being correctly recognised by your OS as a lot of games take the available resolution settings from DirectX.

You can also force the frequency in your graphics card settings, so even if the game tried to set a higher frequency not supported by your tft, you would be able to get in the game and change the settings.

In Nvidia is "Refresh Rate Overrides", no idea with ATI

Guild Wars is the one annoying me atm.

Tried the "run in 640x480" in compatibility, still no joy.

probably best to backup any saved game files if necessary

and re-install the games in question.

Are you sure you have not got a program on like refreshlock? or set the hz higher from when you had a CRT?

If its an lcd the hz must be set to 60hz

Or maybe you've forced a global refresh rate through the nvidia/ATI drivers? Or you've un-ticked the box that says 'hide modes this monitor can't display'.

I didn't get any of these sort of problems when switching from CRT to TFT. Most games you should be able to change the res/refresh rate before running them, but even ones where you can't, they shouldn't be trying to use setting the monitor can't do, they should either return to windows or use a default low resolution. You video card shouldn't allow a mode to be set that the monitor can't do. Sounds like video card/monitor aren't communicating.

hide modes is ticked.

Last time I p[layed the game it was in 1600*1200 so thats the res its trying to use afaik.

Looks like Im gonna have to drag the CRT beast back from the cave of wonders :/

No options available for GW prior to booting into client, tried various shortcut edits and nuthin.
