Hi All,

Need to upgrade sons computer, will be replacing a tired old I5-7600- how's this look?

Was going to get the MSI MSI Tomahawk Board but it's on order.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £488.92 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Alternatively, what would be the equivalent I5 Intel 12th Gen Spec to this - GFX card not needed as he has a GTX 2060.

Thanks in advance, Sven

The brocken 3 would be a bit overkill for the cool running 5600x. The Brocken eco @ £30 would do fine. Alternatively the freezer 34 with single or dual fans (£30-35) woudl also do depending upon how deep the case is.

The intel would be a bargain 12400F for £170 or a 12500 for £199 (OCUK dont stock these).
Gigabyte b660 gaming X for £140
Freezer 34 dual £35 and s1700 fitting kit £4

They offer similar to better performance with the 5600x with the 12500 only being a overclocked 12400 as far as I can tell.

Cheers dfor,

I've got a Broken 3 in my PC at the moment, doesn't even break sweat hence the choice.

I want to try & order it all from here as its less hassle & support has been good so far.

My first choice's Motherboard would have been the B550 tomahawk closely followed by the Gigabyte B550 AORUS Pro AC, seen as both are out of stock at the moment I'm scratching round looking for a suitable alternate hence the ROG Strix B550.

This is very similar to the B550 Tomahawk (it adds wifi) for the same price of the Asus that you put as an alternative, MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Motherboard | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)
Also add more fins on the vrm's heating so runs cooler. As said, basically newer version of tomahawk with WiFi added...if you need more USB ports then the msi b550 carbon, though for some reason, it runs hotter.
Ocuk have some b grade X570 tomahawk at £140 also as an option
