Thanks for the advice.

The motherboard I said earlier (Asus P5KC @ £85.76) is a P35 :(
Any suggestions on a good X38/X48/P45 motherboard? (the reason I'd suggested the Asus is the DDR2 & DDR3 support, and past good reliability with Asus's.)

Just seen this which says that the GeForce 9800GX2 is supposed to be 30% faster than the 8800 Ultra, & cost around $449 US on release date of February 14, 2008.


That's like £240 (remembering the 8800 Ultra is £375-450) :eek: :cool:

Remember though that it has often been a $1:£1 conversion rate in the past regardless of what the actual exchange rate is like at the time although the fact that the dollar is shakier than for a long while at the moment might help. But don't count on that sort of price here is all I'm saying. :)
 
Dont get the P5KC. I made the mistake and am now stuck with it. Its an OK board and I got 3.2 easily on air with my Q6600. But it has no real raid support and not very good for high overclocks.

Get the gigabyte borad that is cheaper and has raid and DDR2 & DDR3 as well as clocking well.

Sorry for interupting this thread, but which motherboard are you referring too?

I'm close to building a system of a similar spec and would be interested to read some more about this gigabyte board.
