In that case then something based on the P35 chipset such as the Abit IP35 or Gigabyte DS3R would be a good option and G.Skill or Corsair Ram, if picking the IP35 then note to choose Ram which will initially boot at 1.8v. Perhaps this combination.

The IP35 is more or less a cut down version of the Pro motherboard.
With a Q6600 you have a 1066mhz FSB + 9x multiplier and unless you are taking the CPU beyond 3.6ghz the PC6400 Ram will still be in specification so I don't see the point in spending more.
1.8v is the default that Abit motherboards boot at.
