Hey all,

Just busy with UCAS, references, uni decisions and the like, and just had a thought. I think I'm wrong, but thought I'd just ask on here to make sure.

Basically, can you apply for a deferred entry this year, so not going to uni in 2008, but 2009, but if you're not happy with the results, refuse it, and then re-apply in 2008 non-deferred for 2009.

It seemed like a too good idea to be true, but I just wasn't sure. Are you classed as having entered ucas in 2 separate years (which would seem ok), or are you classed as having 2 entries for the same target year (which is obviously a no no.)

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light, :)
peter.

What difference would that make? If you don't make the grades chances are other universities with the same grade requirements won't take you on. In which case you might as well just go through clearing.

And no, you can't apply twice for the same target year as your first application would still be active. Off the top of my head though.

Well the point would be if you're planning on going somewhere particularly demanding (say Oxbridge), grades might not be an issue, and you might more probably get refused on the basis of your personal statement and subject choice. Therefore, after a year out, you might decide to change your subject choice, and write a new personal statement. :)

That's fair enough, thanks. :)
