quick way to partition in vista

Right Click Computer in the start menu, Choose Manage.
From the tree on the left select Storage then Disk Management.
You can use this to partition drives - but you can't chop pieces off (or resize) existing partitions without data loss. You need special software to do this - the last time I wanted to do this was a few years ago and I used PartitionMagic.
Not sure what's currently available.
Disk management is great for managing secondary/additional hard drives though.
