hi i have decided to buy AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1100T Black Edition 3.30GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail with the Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard. I am not looking to overclock the system but i have a noctua silent cpu cooler on my current rig and am well pleased with how silent it is. My question is regarding the amount of reviewers that have complained about the coller effecting the amount of memory modules slots that are lost due to the size of the cooler. Can you offer some advice which "silent" cooler would allow me to use all the memory slots? Tia

Big coolers don't make memory slots unusable. They simply prevent modules with big heat spreaders from being installed. As long as you have regular low profile memory modules, you can use coolers of any sizes.

not true, with my old p5b and scythe ninja, if i had the 120mm fan blowing front to back, it totally blocked off one of the RAM slots entirely. it wasn't possibly to fit a module there so i had to adjust the fan position to blow from bottom to top.

Ok well, most sensible coolers won't actually block the slots.

As for a silent cooler, go for a Thermalright VX with a couple of low RPM fans.
