What is the best but quiet CPU cooler i can get for a Phenom II x4 805 (on an AM2+ board) that doesnt cost tons?

I have been looking at the Noctua NH-U12P and the Artic Cooler Freezer 7 rev 2 but am unsure if the Noctua would fit in my Coolermas RC690 or how good the Freezer 7 will be

Any advise please?

Thanks

I had considered the H50 but am trying to get a decent BD drive and CPU cooler for £100

Am replacing my Zalman 9700 which is currently the loudest part of my system

Cheers will look into the Tuniq

Yeah take a look at the Tuniq. It has been made for silent operation and has direct heatpipe tech and is very efficient for a low noise cooler!

Have looked at the Tuniq

I would have to take out the mobo to install it though wouldnt i? As am not keen on that - a lot of time

Though it does look quite good

Im gonna do some searching and see if i can get a definate answer regarding the Noctua and the 690 as i rate Noctua very highly

Does anyone know the max height the RAM can be as well please?

Just found out that on an AMD installation the Noctua can only go vertically (top to bottom)

Would horizontally be better and if so which HSF please?

MUST be quiet but still provide good cooling

Also found out that the Noctua requires mobo removal which im not a fan of

Thanks

Not sure if it will fit in your rig as it's on the HOOGE side but the Megahalem is possibly one of the best air coolers out there at the moment. Although originally supplied only for Intel socket 775/1156/1366 there is available an AM2 2+ / 3 mounting kit - the cooloer can be had from OcUk for £46.99 inc vat:

And you'd need a "Prolimatech AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 Megahalem Retention Mount" which I've only seen sourced in the US at the moment but costs a mere $9.99 (any plans to stock this kit OcUK?)

If you're machine is not heavily overclocked and has good airflow in the case you can possibly get away with running this cooler fanless, otherwise you can add one or two 120mm fans to it, buying something nice and quiet - maybe some Noctua's or the like (I share you're love of Noctua).
