yea i know, a lot of you will say it is quiet. But I have got a silent system without me trying. the only thing which is "loud" is the hard drive and seasonic psu (which is silent, just its the only fan I can hear). So how would I quieten the hard drive without spending a lot of money?
Cheers

Take it out and place it on something soft eg. a towel. When you turn it back on, if the noise has gone then the suspension method mentioned above will work and should silence it. If the noise is still there then it's the hard drive that's giving off the noise and not the fact that it's causing the case to resonate.

As said, all you will need is some sewing elastic and you can do it by just looking at pictures of how it's done.

Here's some of mine:

If you go down this route then make sure that the elastic is pretty tight. Also, something that i did recently, but haven't got any pics of, was to have elastic on the ends of the hard drive (attached to the other bits of elastic holding the drive) to keep it from falling out.

Thats a really neat solution, very effective I would have thought too :)
It sure is! I recently got a 320GB Seagate 7200.10 and i ran out of 5.25" drive bays to mount it in so i had a go in the 3.5" bays and managed to get it to fit. The elastic doesn't have enough room to cross over each other like in the above pics but i have put elastic above and below the drive and it works a treat!

Normal elastic bands will wear out in months btw, I never thought about the proper sewing stuff.

I didnt suspend my HDD, samsung make nice quiet ones but the case does resonate so I strapped it up internally with plumbers duct tape.

I cut out small patches of tape for the screw holes both sides and on the drives themselves so their was no direct metal contact. Even this small amount of padding (their isnt much room like is said above) did enough for me.

I dont have a silent system but neither is the road outside, etc so its good enough imo.
