The 2 120mm fans that came with my Corsair Hydro H100 are quite loud. My system runs pretty cool so i'm after some quieter fans but there's so many to choose from, any recommendations ?

another vote for gentle typhoons

also, if you think 15db is loud, start looking for a completely passive cooling solution :D

Just received 2 120mm Fractal designs fans :D
OcUK only had 1 in stock so had to order else where :(

On a more serious note
Normal sound
Quiet bed room - 40/50 db
Private office - 50/60 db
Open office - 55/60 db
Conversation @ 1meter/3 ft - 60/70 db

15 db is very quiet! I doubt any fan is that quiet, don't believe the manufactures bull.

My current 2 120mm Corsair fans are 42db and these are way too loud for my liking, even when just running one turned down using the Corsair 600T fan controller :(

I have the vipers on my kuhler 920 really don't hear then with custom fan profile but on full wack extreme mode when benching then I would say they can be called noisy.

That's weird I replied but it hasn't appeared

Anyways I wasn't looking for the mathematical difference, what does that equate to in noise ? :p

Was only joking, maybe I am very sensitive to pc fans' noise because my computer is next to my monitor.

I consider my enermax fans' 8-15dba to be quiet, and I got so used to them that anything above those numbers I consider loud. Mind you I just bought and AKASA Apache and it's quiet to my ears.

Replaced the fans last night and they match the case pretty well being white and black. They're also really quiet even when turned on full and cpu temps didn't go up too much even after a few hours of Skyrim. I did notice the chipset heatsink were pretty hot though.

I read somewhere that different people are sensitive to different types of fan noise, or noise in general. Some folk will hear deeper sounds & some will hear higher sounds so it all depends on your hearing range.......or something.

10 db is around three times the difference in sound pressure but loudness also depends on frequency which this scale doesn't account for.
This is what most people will find annoying, mid to high frequency being most offensive. swapped my antec fans because of high pitch noise, the vipers being a lower frequency don't sound as loud:D
