I'm after a new 1tb storage drive and i'm most concerned with noise levels rather than performance. Is the WD Caviar Green the best choice for this?

Thanks

I wouldn't choose noise over quality, especially for a storage drive. There are many way to make a harddrive quiet, perhaps with software (AAM) or using bungee cords.

i swapped a caviar black for a caviar green and notice the difference in my bedroom pvr setup, the black was too loud.
i think the greens spin slower than most desktop drives.

I have a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 3.5" In an icybox enclosure next to my TV which is connected to my WD Live TV unit. Anyone suggest a good enclosure that will cut down the hard drive noise. The icy box is not helping. The Hard Drive is ace but noisy. Ta

Thanks for the advice fellas. Anyone have any info on AAM? I googled it but there was almost too much info to make sense of.

The 1TB WD Green drive that I have which is 2/3 years old now is quite noisy tbh. I have it as a storage drive in the pc, and I can quite clearly hear the difference when it kicks in.

My 2TB Green was the worst thing I have ever bought. It was insanely slow, noisy and got a couple of weeks over the warranty and died... I just bought a "RED" WD 2TB £80 and its a lot quicker and quiet; hopefully it might last a bit longer -.-
