Replacing my 2 WD 320's and 1 320GB Maxtor this Christmas for a Crucial M225 64GB and wanted a single, quiet 1TB for storage. Trying to reduce clutter and noise within the case.

Any suggestions for quiet drives. I'm leaning towards the Samsung EcoGreen F2 which I know are popular, but does it fill my requirements, is there anything quieter?

The Sammy F2 EcoGreen are rated at 25dB idle and 27dB seek which is on a par with Seagate drives of the same capacity.

Personally I am using a Samung F2 in a zalman rubber mount (the one with heatpipes over the top) in a 5.25 bay... I am a bit of a noise freak (cant stand it) and random seeks are barely audible in this setup :)

best way to remove HDD noise is to suspend your HDD's in your case so they are not fixed in anyway to the case. Failing that, get an enclosure.
