Was wondering what the quietest hard drive available to buy is, 3.5" or 2.5", I think it may be the Western Digital Scorpio, but want one which has decent performance so was looking at the Seagate momentus 5400.3 160GB, has good reviews, but how does it compare to a seagate 320GB 7200.10 in terms of speed and loudness, I noticed in the tech specs that both drives are rated ad 25 bels, but surely the 2.5" drive must be quieter?..., I have a Seagate 7200.9 250GB which is loud as a western Digital raptor, rated at 27-29bels, so which hard drive should I go for, as I need a quiter one, will the Seagate momentus be able to keep up with the speed of the 7200.9, need at least a 30MB/s transfer rate but not sure what the value is for the momentus.., also is the momentus quiter than a 7200.10, if not then I will go for a 7200.10 unless anyone knows of a quiter drive which is available to buy and offers decent performance, will be capturing uncompressed video so must have a minimum write speed of 30mb/s..., the 7200.9 has 50mb/s write speed.., also the momentus is IDE.., but don't mind SATA or IDE.., obviouisly for desktop SATA is preffered but for laptop drives seems the best ones come in IDE form..

- Is the Seagate Momentus 5400.3 Quieter than a 320GB 7200.10
- What is the transfer rate of the 5400.3
- Speed wise how does the 5400.3 compare to the 7200.10
- Does anyone know of a quieter drive
- Will a 320GB 7200.10 in a Smartdrive2002C offer an acceptable quiet Hard Drive Solution?..
