Quietest PSU

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm after buying an extremely low noise power supply unit and I was just wondering whether anyone had any reccomendations on any?

At least tell us your hardware and intentions!(overclocking?)

If it's a mid-range computer I would recommend you seasonic s12 430w. Dead silent :)
 
The Corsair and Seasonic psu seem to get good reviews around here. I think the Corsair are the same psu as the Seasonic just rebranded. I'm going for the Corsair 520w in my new build.
 
Well... Zalman have released some fanless PSUs... so they'll be the quietest - but not very high wattage.

Other than those - the Seasonics are the quietest - I had a Seasonic S12 600W Powersupply before I moved over to this Enermax Kilowatt
 
just got a Corsair 620w and its quite,
loadest thing in my system is the GC fan and theres no after market ones yet

Yeah - it's ok at idle speeds - but noticeable in games.

I'm sure arctic cooling will come out with something soon.
 
I'd disagree with wayne on the tagan easycon, I had a 580w and switching to a seasonic 600w was noticeably quieter... like "oh.. thats where the noise was coming from!!"

You could always get an antec phantom, they're passive although not exactly what you'd call massively powerful I'm sure they're acceptable being an antec.

Otherwise I'd heartily recommend a seasonic, the 600w I have is staying until it either breaks or can't handle the load.

Maybe u had a bad one, maybe I had a good one? I can assure you it was so quiet I didn't even know the computer was switched on, the only fan in the whole machine was the PSU, couldn't hear a thing . . . except the wind rustling through the trees, the cars driving past outside my house etc . . . :)

Can attest to the Enermax Liberty being quiet as well, heck just about any Enermax in the last few yrs i had is quiet.
