I need a hdd, with just enough capacity to run xp 32.

My systems starting to slow down and get infected with spyware, so im going to keep all my apps and games on this hdd (and the 500gb worth of downloads) and just use a new one to hold the OS then delete the windows folder on this one.

So i need a quiet one please, 36gb would do.

This is a 7200.10 which makes lots of clicking noises, tis annoying!

The only sub 80Gb 3.5" drives available are Raptors and they're far from quiet. Samsung have the best reputation for silence although I must say I'm impressed with WD's AAKS drives when compared to 7200.10s.

You're probably best looking at something like a Samsung S or a WD AAJS.

Be aware that you'll probably need to reinstall all your apps and most of your games if you put an new OS on the machine since all the registry entries will be lost.

The 250Gb single platter drives from Seagate are the quietest hard drive I've had :) However I have had a couple die on me recently so you might want to be careful with them.
