I'm insured with Quinn on a TPFT basis, and was wondering if anyone could tell me if they're insured to drive other cars (based on experience).

I don't have my docs and can't call Quinn, so OcUK to the rescue!

It says on their website that the DOC applies to most policies. That is the limit of my knowledge.

But if i remember right you have DOC if you are the main driver on the insurance with them as this is what they told my mum when she got a quote from them

Depends on age too doesn't it? I think it's 25 is the minimum age before driving other cars on your insurance, unless of course the policy has the option of DOC, like Bell.

bump.

back before I passed my test I picked up a FTO because it was going cheap. I bought this knowing insurance will be hard to get at 20 but I was only 4 months away from being 21, by which age Quinn would insure me.

now I passed my test I bought myself a Saxo VTR to use for 4 months and on the back of my insurance certificate it says I can drive any private motor vehicle with permission of the owner. I rang them up so they could confirm this and it is indeed true. They will cover you to drive other vehicles on a third party only basis.

I see this as a loophole in being able to drive a car you are ineligible to be insured on as a policy holder. today I have officialy gave ownership of my FTO to my father and as soon as the documents return I will be able to drive the car Quinn wouldn't insure me on.

No, you have nominated your father as the current KEEPER of the vehicle. This is not the same as the current OWNER. It is your car, you cannot legally drive it using DOC cover on your insurance.

What is it with people on OcUK and scamming insurers with DOC? Is it going to take one of you guys being prosecuted for driving without insurance before you stop trying it on?

what document tells me or anyone else who the owner of the car is?

Been a few years since I been with Quinn Direct. I know at 18 though with TPFT I was insured to drive any other car third party. Often used to drive my fathers R32 GTR :)
