Quit Warcraft.

you know you play wow to much when u agree with this guy or sound/act like him over wow

<Onyxia link>

You might want to edit that out, just a little swearing in it ;). It really reminds me of my old guild though, in fact I'm sure it was posted on their forums because someone thought it sounded exactly like our raid leaders :/.

I play plenty of WoW (arena, some battlegrounds at weekends, raid at least 2/3 nights a week and get some farming done) but doesnt stop social life at all. Weekends im still out, many "raid" nights im still out. Wow doesnt have to turn you into a complete hermit if you approach it right. Im out at least twice a week in addition to working average of 38 hrs a week, just takes a little self control :)
Helps to find a guild that dont expect their raiders to work at it like a second job :)

If ya read the full thread i resurrected to say that even ive been dragged back into the game lol.

I still stand by the fact that its bloody pointless, but this thread was public warning! haha

You cant deny that playing warcraft excessively does nothing good for ya life

Hehe, its hard i know, i played WoW for about 7 Months and at the time i was single and had no responsabilites except for working 9 - 5. when i met someone i gave up playing the game. Personaly i found the game great fun and i met some good people on there.

I think its more down to the personality of the person play WoW as to how they may end up playing it in terms of addiction etc rather than the game itself.

To OP. Essentially you could say what you said about any game out there. All of them are a waste of time no? It's whether you enjoy them whilst playing that matters.

Like I said I raided once maybe twice a week at most so I completely disagree with your comments about having to raid full time, maybe part of your problem lies with the fact that you join guilds full of loot hungry kids. Find a like minded bunch of guys/gals your own age and play when you want to, not when some snot nosed GM dictates. I played my class very well as did the other guys in my guild and we took a very casual laid back approach to it all, it was a laugh and some fun, exactly what a game is intended to be. Real life most definitely took priority over it.

But casual raiding does not get you to the top in wow, if you want to see everything high end wise a casual guild wont cut it. I was in one of the top guilds on Laughing skull, and you had to be quite active. And no, they werent loot hungry kids or snot nosed gm's, in fact they were quite amiable. When my working hours changed I could have stayed in the guild for as long as I want due to being with them a long time.

And thats the thing with wow, if you dont like pvp or raiding the low level instances then you need to be in a top guild, which doesnt just mean raiding it also means farming for mats etc. Of course no one forces anyone to do this, but playing casually will mean you miss out on 50%( my estimate) of the game. It just depends on how much of the game you want to see.

Once I finished playing I realised what a time sink this game was, and no I didnt neglect my family for it, but I did enjoy raiding. Nowadays Im quite happy to play drop in games like sega rally, et:wq etc.

Well, i've pretty much quit WoW again today, all thats needed is the formal cancelling of the account, i think it'll go the same way the last 2 years with WoW in my life have,

Play for 4-5 weeks, way too much, in an over adicted state
Not play for a week
Log in once or twice one week
Spend a week not thinking about it
Think about it, and cancel it
Wait 3 months
Get a longing to play it
Back to the top of t'list!

Ahh well :)

I have never understood how anyone can like rpg games let alone online ones i would rather watch paint dry than play an rpg.

After playing for 1.5years i decided to quit. Went back to occasional CS games, and less PC time.

Get yourselves away from the life draining game. When it all comes to an end you will realise, like i have now.. That you spend weeks playing for an item, to wear on an imaginary character.. Its actually quite sad when ya think about it.

Join a gym guys, get out the house more. But whatever you do, Dont let it drain ya life! :D

Just a bit of friendly advice :)

Well done ^_^. I have to thank Blizzard for releasing the expansion in the end. If it wasn't for that i would most prob still be playing now. 2 years (Too many days of play time i dare not say) of grinding the best gear possible only to have it all crushed overnight made me realize what a waste the game was. I do not miss the game but i do miss the people. Been clean of wow for six months and has resulted in me getting a decent steady job, a new car and my own flat. Good riddance is all i can say

Have always been tempted by the idea of the online RPG's, but the thing that puts me off is the amount of time it requires to achieve things.

Whereas I probably do spend a fair bit of time gaming, I prefer easy to pick up and have a quick go games, than ones that require hours and hours of slogging away.

I just feel quilty about spending all that time on a game, through which, in the end, I will achieve nothing.

Quite a long time ago ambout a month after i hit 70 after tbc. Sold my account and epic toons....

BUT i have a real bad craving to get back into this game!!!!!

Might order a copy of guildwars to cure my mmo craving

K so, all my mate does in life is play WoW and eat and sometimes sleep. We're known (me and my mates) for our ability to get lost in a game, sometimes we play multiplayer for a couple of 24/36hr sessions, but my mate just sits and plays wow constantly, he once asked me "What day is it" and I replied "Thursday" and his response was "I'll play for another couple hours and go to bed"

He woke up on Saturday, and revealed he'd just played for 72 hours straight.

He takes breaks to watch stargate atlantis (forced by me) and heroes and BSG when it airs again, but apart from that, it's what he does, and I've done the same with all the final fantasy series (except 10-12, they all sucked majorly)

Is he addicted, or does he just like to play his PC, if he didn't have WoW, he'd just be playing a different game, but I've never seen him so focused and he wouldn't even let me remove the spyware and pop-ups from his pc for him, even though they kept minimising his game!

I know when he finishes all the classes in Alliance he'll move straight onto Horde, but with this new expansion, I don't think he'll be finished until the start of next year or Hellgate London comes up - even then I'm starting to doubt that!

personally, i think that is a sad state to be in.

I dont mind playing games, or people who play games, but a 72 hour session on wow is just sad. Theres so much more to do with life than move pixels on a screen, and if you carry on you will be missing out on so much.

theres just so many other things id rather do in 72 hours than play wow.

I've been there and done it, at the time your just obsessed with the game and all you care about is the game, all you think about is the game, real life comes second.

No matter who tells you, or how many times you are told, while your that deeply into a game like WoW nobody is going to stop you playing it.

Looking back now it is really a very sad state to be in, but it happens so easy and at the time you love it, but I honestly feel it will make you depressed if you do it for too long, I certainly wouldn't go down the same path again.

I play games for a couple of hours (even if that) in the evening now and thats a nice balance :)
