Hi ladies, hope you are all well.
I am now coming up to my second cigarette free week and I am determined to stop.
I never thought it would be this hard to be honest, though it is getting easier now and the cravings are subsiding to about 3-4 times per day... it is quite amazing how much of a hold these things have on you.
I guess I made this thread to motivate myself and maybe provide some motivation for others who are thinking about quitting.
I also wrote this to the people who are thinking of starting or have recently started smoking. My message is simple realy.... dont do it, the hold these things have on you is great and it takes considerable willpower to stop once you are hooked.
Heres a few things I have noticed since quitting, my appetite is greater (extra cardio at the gym required :/)
Despite what people say when I smell cig smoke it dosent turn my stomach, quite the opposite, it just makes me want one :p
I DO feel healthier and cardio at the gym is easier.
I dont smell like an ashtray anymore.
I am richer

Anyway thanks for reading and like I said earlier, I hope this motivates some of you to give it a try.
Will update on my success/failure every few weeks so if anybody else who has quit wants to then feel free to post your story here.

i am 6 weeks in the first 2 weeks are the hardest now I barely think about it and if I do I find myself soon thinking about

the money I have saved
the crap I am not inhaling
and all the years I did the above.

that said I gave up before for a year before starting again, I started again when they brought smoking ban in. ;)

Well done, keep it up!

Having smoked for more than 16 years I gave up (cold turkey) on the 18th March 2009, so coming up to two years now. :)

Nice one. You’ll feel even better this week and remember that with each week the cravings will diminish. Keep at it. :)

Keep it up. Smoking really doesn't benefit anybody, especially you and your health. So stay away from 'em. :p

Well done I'm in my 3rd year I quit for my daughter when she was born and havnt looked back you really do start to hate the smell the longer you go.

Anyway keep it up really is worth it.

You'll start to notice how much smokers stink. Bad breath, stale nicotine stink. It's as bad as BO.

I went on holiday to France last summer. You get so used to going places and not having to put up with other peoples' smoke it was a real shock again.

Whatever you think about the smoking ban there has certainly been a real change.

Stay strong Maximum Triceratops; sounds like you're over the worst bit.

Quitting smoking is extremely difficult, I had to quit when my gf fell pregnant and I found it the worse thing I've ever gone through. This was 10 months ago and I still feel like one now

2 weeks for me and just getting stuck into some lager..might stick a patch on before i go to the shop :(
