Alaska has the 2nd smallest population at about 550,000 but due to its vast expanse (570,000 sq miles) there is less than 1 person per square mile.
This makes it by far the least densely populated US state. (Apparently :o)

Nope its Wyoming. Alaska is heavy populated in some places, but due to its vastness it seems like someone/anything lives up there.
