Any PC5300 (667MHz) will run in sync with the 1333MHz at stock, depends how fast you want to push your CPU, whether you will be overclocking with the FSB or with the multi (as yours is unlocked), and what your motherboard does.

Example 1

If you OC'd the FSB to 400MHz, that is 1600MHz quad pumped. That will need the RAM to run at 800MHz DDR, so any PC6400 RAM at stock will do the job fine. The CPU speed will depend on the multi (as yours is unlocked) but if it was left on 9 (as it currently is) then you would have a 3600 MHz (3.6 GHz) clock speed.

Example 2

Leave everything at stock and just push up the multi. You'll need PC 5300 (667MHz) RAM to run at sync with the mobo FSB at 333MHz (1333 Quad Pumped). If you put the multi to 11x then you would end up with 3663Mhz (3.66GHz clock speed).

Summary - What RAM

Depends on what speed you want to do, but you probably don't need anything particularly special tbh. You can get PC 8500 RAM for under 100 quid that will give you more OC headroom than you're ever likely to need.

just set the ram to run at 800mhz from 667mhz - but the cpu is still set at stock.

as you can tell i'm not into overclocking nvr done it and always kept my kit on default so as to the best way to go for performance and benching i dont really have a clue

Basically the speed of your CPU will be the biggest limiting factor to the speed of your whole system. You need to clock it (you can up the FSB or up the multi as you have an extreme version) but you will need to cool that CPU, as quads do get hot - what are your load temps at stock?

well ran 3dmk2006 again and getting 14111 thats with my memory at 800mhz / 5-5-5-12 1.8v upped from 667mhz. which is default for my ram then i got 13973

accross the core's idel using core temp 0.95

core#0 55c
core#1 52c
core#2 50c
core#3 48c

asus probe shows 42c

accross the core's under load

core#0 61c
core#1 58c
core#2 57c
core#3 55c

asus probe shows 49c

would that be considered high ? i have only just built this so the AS may need a few days to bed in

now running @ 3.72 with the multiplier chananged from 9 to 11 and a slight FSB increase

managed to see 4ghz but would not boot into windows this is still all on air btw
