QX6850 Overclocking

One thing I have just discovered is that I made a mistake fitting a new rear 120mm fan installing it the wrong way round so sucking air in rather than as an extractor. So my system temperature was actually hotter than it could have been, because I have fans in the front sucking in air I seem generated no way for the air to flow through the case except out through the freezone cooler.

I was getting initially a system temperature of 45c the yesterday I fitted two Icy Dock four drive units and added a further two 500 Gig drive so fully populating the Icy docks with eight drives, the system temp the rose to 55c and still the CPU temp never changed.

After turning the rear fan round to work as an extrator my system temp is now running at 36c. Just for extra cooling as well I am now fitting a coolermaster crossflow fan which I have to modify as the Stacker 810 that I am have is the later version which wasnt designed for the crossflow so I am mounting it inside the side panel.

I still am amazed but the Freezone and I highly recommend it although the £190 price tag is a but much I think its worth it.

Those are nice temps, i have been looking for one of these coolers for a while now, but I just cant find one in the UK

I found it on Ebay, the seller had a few of them imported over but he is not listing any at the moment, I suggest you keep a look out on ebay as I know he had a few and was having problem selling them as the cost £190 each

If you are still looking for one , look on ebay now as there are three being listed by the same seller i got mine from

overall the unit has been great, its been running for days and the temp on idle is always below 20c although as most people point out monitor the CPU temp is subjective depending on what software you use, I run my CPU constantly at 3.66 on a x11 multiplier, even running flat out I see the temp rises to only about the 40c mark.

Only problem that I have found is the mounting of the unit, if you use some motherboards like the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 the copper cooling fins on the back of the motherboard get in the way so you cant mount the freezone, I bought another stacker 810 with dual rear fans so I mounted mine in the top 120mm slot, i tried moving it down to the lower fan position but found it cant be fitted due motherboard.
