I recently tried my QX6850 on the asus rampage extreme the thing is it is getting really hot 60c witch it never done when i bought it.It used to sit at about 35c under load also when i try to start a game with the cpu installed i hear a really faint high pitched noise for about 5-10 seconds and the screen will just freeze this also happens when i try 3dmark.I tried my other cpu on same setup and everything works any advice would be great and has anyone come across the faint screeching noise before thanks rich.

I forgot to say its is watercooled i can run prime 95 for hours with the QX6850 but when i go to run any games i get black screen and freezing but with my other cpu with same hardware i can play games. It is still under warranty but i have lost the intel heatsink so intel say my warranty is void is there any way around the warranty without the fan.

What are your full specs, even with water I doubt your full load temps were 35c, unless you had the rad on the outside of your house :p.

Have had a look at the gpu, can you check this in a different machine.

High pitched noise sounds like capacitor squeel, this could be coming from the Gcard or if you are overvolting your QX6850 then a cap on the motherboard could be struggling.

the bios sets cpu voltage at 1.35v i might get a new cpu and do you think my psu is overkill.
