can any one offer any advice to my problem? i cant get overclock with the 9650
unless i leave the vcore on auto.
if i try any manual setting it hangs at detect cpu. thing is when i had a q6600 in it i could up the volts to what i needed.
motherboard is maximus formula se, i have gone through 4 bios updates still no diff. the chip will boot at 4.1 on auto volts but not stable.
thanks.

an update found why i cant take vcore off auto, the board ignores any vcore setting i imput. ie at stock set vcore to 1.367 bios stays at 1.104.
in windows about the same, do you think bios issue or motherboard gone?
thanks

id love to help but my friend who overclocked my system for me put a password on the bios so i cant get in and mess it up, otherwise id help.

You sure there isn't a separate setting to take the vcore off auto? What board is it?
the board is a maximus formula, and no there is no other setting to take it of auto. i have no problem setting vcore just dam board wont take any notice.

on the q600 i had it over 1.7volts, where you set vcore in setting it allows me to up the voltage, but looking in bios power monitor or in windows it stays at stock volts.
but when left on auto it does increase the vcore with an overclock just not enough.

if i had any hair i would be pulling it out.
thanks

I am afraid I don't know how to help you but Had a similar problem when I popped my QX9650 in a Asus P5B Deluxe and flashed to the latest bios. I was having the same problem cpu voltage could not be taken off auto. I just changed my motherboard as the P5B was a bit long in the tooth anyway. One word of advice tho check and see what volts it is giving the cpu as my P5B was pumping 1.6v into it once I clocked the cpu hence why I shut it down rather quickly and changed board :-)
