Hi
Im running a QX9770@4Ghz, CPU 1.39375v (1.42v), VTT 1.16v (1.20v), PLL 1.50v (1.54v)…(Everest)
The temps max on the 4cores is no more than 36-40c.
Im thinking about clocking it more but not sure what the safe limits are, can anybody advise??
Many thanks..

Have you seen how low you can get your vcore on your current overclock, because I am thinging that a QX9770 should be able to hit 4 GHz with much less than 1.39375v vcore.

I suspect the other settings are causing your instability.

Luck of the draw i guess, being a QX9770 dosen't instantly guarantee a high overclock, i've had better results with my E0 Q9550 than i had with my 'sold before it lost any money' E0 QX9650 which topped out at 3.8GHz with 1.4v and needed 1.5v for 4GHz (which it was at for a day only), whilst my Q9550 does 4Ghz at 1.325v on the same board with obviously a much higher FSB (ruling out board/ram etc.. ).

You mean one of these?

Thats a huge amount to pay for a processor, more than an i7 980X!

ye one of them lol ...
All i can say is i was a noob and brought 1when they first came out thinking that they were the best you could buy ... but its to late to turn the clocks back lol...

Will the PC run any better trying to sqeeze extra out of the cpu .. should i just stick at were it is .... its stable etc

Just keep going and keep an eye on the temps. I;ve had my q9650 at 4.95Ghz with 1.56v through it fine (although not for day to day use)
