On thursday morning, my 14 year old collie cross, had a stroke, the vet gave him a couple of injections to try to thin his blood and relax him a little, I was told to then bring him back on friday to see if he was recovering...
He was shaking, unstable on his feet, could barley stand or walk without falling over and his eyes were constantly moving from left to right.
On friday morning, I got up, hoping to see he had improved, but alas he had not, so I took him back to the vet and after a long talk with the vet, I had to decide to have him put to sleep as I did not want him suffering.
I held him tight in my arms as the vet injected him, and felt his beating heart slow, heard his panting subdue, it was a teribble moment that seamed to last an age, something I would not wish anyone to go through.
But now I know he is no longer suffering, no longer scared...
He was my loyal and loving pet for 14 years and when I was at home, he followed me everywhere around the house and garden, always by my side, he knew when I was mad or sad or happy, he was my best friend and the wife and I will miss him always
