My beloved NAD amp has died on me *cries*

I bought it second-hand from a very helpful chap on here. When it arrived I bi-wired it up to my brand new Wharfedale Evolution2-10's;

Power Handling: 25-125 Watts

Nonimal Independance: 6 Ohms

As far as I know the NAD should easily power these speakers but for the last 5 months when the amp is switched on it has been entering it's protection mode for a short time, this protection mode time has been lengthening over the last few months. As of 11am this morning the amp is no longer coming out of it's protection mode despite my efforts (powering on with nothing attached).

Can anyone shed some light on my situation as I can't afford £180 for a new amp :/

Many thanks

My C350 used to go into protection mode about 6 months ago, I think it was due to overheating. After I had turned it off and opened the windows it would work fine.

Yeah, over-heating or connecting the amp to speakers out of the amps power range can trigger the protection mode but my amp is doing this from power-on so it's stone cold with nothing connected to it.

I'm puzzled

My C370 does it also. It did it from the day I got it (second hand from AVF)...at first it'd only do it if I turned it off, then turned it on again within a minute or so, and even then it only took another power off and on to get it going again.

It progressed to taking longer and longer to click out of protection mode, then to getting to a point where it'd come out, but as soon as it was given any load, the relays would clatter like mad and the power light would glow dim red as the sound pulsed through the speakers.
Oddly, making the room warmer stopped it happening, until it got to the point where its at now, takes about 60 mins to click on, and even then it'll click off again as soon as its given any work!

I believe it's something to do with a faulty relay in the protection circuit, and NAD knows about it with the C350/C352 and offered a repair/replace but not on the C370 :(
