• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

R08ST ME

If we apply that logic, so is taking offense to people who thinks others are paying for overpriced goods :)
Fair play but I haven't taken offense to anything although I thought it was poor form to mention a part of the forum that not everyone is privileged to.

I haven't even decided what I'm doing yet. All the prices are nuts and I can see pros and cons to all options, but the 4080 is just edging it for me as I can build a very high end system with one for under 2.8k. We must agree though that every person's situation is very different. If I was a gamer I'd just be buying a ps5!

Sorry, digressing too much.

Depends what you are using it for. Productivity the 4080 is pretty much twice the performance for less than twice the price.

I guess it comes down to whether you are stressing the card or not. If a card can half the time of your workflow then it would surely be worth it if you can afford it. I'd imagine most people buying a 4080 are people who aren't just fragging 12 year olds.

That's exactly what they're doing.

7900xtx won't be anywhere near the application specific performance. It's a non starter unfortunately.

What applications are you using it (CUDA) for?
Very few people do any real work on personal machines, so would be interested to know your use case, especially as for the most part the 4090 would make a lot more sense in terms of VFM and work done. You can still fir one of those in a £2.8k build too. :)

You said it was gross that I pointed out that those who buy overpriced goods are essentially enabling the continued practice of nvidia ripping consumers off. I took that as a sign of you being offended but nvm.

If you want the card, just get the card! No need to convince or justify others mate. Sounds like it will be worth it to you, but most of us still gonna have to disagree on it being a good buy.

I don't know what time the 7900 XTX goes live on the 13th, But as I'm working from 6.30am until 3pm. I guess I'm screwed in getting a decent card yet again.
Especially so many don't want the 4080 and are now waiting for the 7900XT and XTX.

I'd 100% be looking at a 4090 if you are serious Blender (CUDA) user, as the 4080 is ~32% slower. Not a great deal to say with Adobe other than in Premier Pro and a little bit in After Effects.

Example build at around £2800-3000, includes 64GB DDR5 (Hynix M-Die), 2TB PCI-E 4.0 NVMe disk, and a 1000w PSU, with a 4090. :)

CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Pure Loop 280 Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI PRO B660M-A WIFI Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-5600 CL40 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card
Case: NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power 11 FM 1000 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Total: ~£2920

If your sig is correct then you already have a decent card in the 3080ti so no rush to jump onto the new stuff.

Having money in your pocket to spend during a recession means you're holding all the Aces not these tech companies.

NV might even have to discount the 4080 pretty heavily soon, or just abandon it. They abandoned the 4060ti even before launch.

Yay, Santa's hate emjoi's making their annual appearance.
