R1 vs Porsche vs Tornado

expected outcome! wanted the biker to fall off his bike as he got caught in the jets back wash/thrust as he took off though :p
 
Not Likely. Yed for a few hundred, but then the porsche (by no means the cream of road going cars) will absolutley fly past the R1 as if its stood still! Thats my guess anyway..

Put them round the track, none of them would touch the porsche!

If these are standard cars/bikes, then I'd expect the bike to whomp the car.. easily, but you need some skill to get the best from the bike, it's not just a case of slip the clutch and full throttle..

most 1000cc sports bikes this year, inc the R1 will be doing 0 - 150MPH in 10-11 secs easily.. the porsche.. well it wont' be doing 150MPH in anywhere near 10 seconds..

The 'old' R1 if that what it is should still give any Porsche Turbo a run for its money, easily...

Go jump on a bike and then see how fast they are.. (I've got a GSXR1000 and regularly 'toy' around with a Murcielago)


As for the track question, they did that between a bike mag and the EVO magazine around silverstone I believe, the only thing to beat the K2 GSXR1000 road bike was a seriously turbocharged Radical.. , but then a slightly tweaked GSXR1000 beat that around.. the Porsche was way down the list..

Well, the Porsche stuffs the R1 into the ground, but only at high speed. This is a straight line drag. Torque and gearing from the Porsche mean it flys past the R1 without any trouble, and is actually in hot pursuit of the Tornado!!!!!

I doubt this is some recent test passer on this R1 either........
 
without seeing the video, and seeing the speeds, I can't really comment, other then a std current R1 Vs Porsche 911 Turbo, the R1 is gonna leave the car until about 165-170, then the car should slowly claw its way back..

Of course, old R1, or super modded porsche... or crap rider, then porsche is going to eat the R1..

I've seen lots of saxo's beat porsche's at the 'strip,. but I don't believe for one minute that std saxo > std porsche..

Which one was this??? The EVO one, the std GSXR Beat all but the radical, which was their highest output model, but I class that as a modded kit
Or are you talking fifth gears pathetic attempt around a bumpy, crap circuit that would always favour the car??
 
well from what I remember about the episode they had a harrier go round the track, but that had to take wide circles round the corners. However I can't remeber the car, I never watch fifth gear on principle :D
 
Ahh topgear, a CBR600 on what is not really a 'track'I think they also had the Fireblade as well once.. fair cop on that poor surfaced effort of a track the car is king..

I was thinking a proper track, e.g. silverstone etc..

tbh I love cars to bits, I'd love a GT2 RS porsche.. and it's far easier to do a drag style race in a car.. the bike can be very unforgiving..
 
I'm being "picky" here, but I'm not sure thats a Tornado.

Looks more like a MiG to me, perhaps a 23?.

There was a vid floating around at one point here, of a bike vs car vs speedboat which was of a similar nature.
 
defo a mig, and the track is a runway so nice and flat. R1 got eaten but must have been about 150 minimum when porker came past
 
You're right to be picky Draeger - that's nothing like a Tornado! If anything it looks more like a Jaguar - the lack of huge afterburner being a giveaway.

You were actually pretty close to the correct ID for the plane as it is either a MiG-27, the ground-attack variant of the MiG-23, or a Yugoslav Air Force SOKO Orao, which looks similar to both the Mig and Jaguar.

I don't think the bike is entirely healthy...

not sure if that vid shows it (codecs messed up, all green) but on the longer version I have saved the biker is walking back while the jet and car make their own way back.

Also no matter how fast the R1/Porsche would have been going there is no way the Porsche would go from being so far behind to suddenly having so much speed it flew past the R1 like it was stood still.

I think the R1 was either a bit poorly, or got wobbly or something as the Jet went past.

does look very much like a mig 23.. cant get a real god look at it tho :(


what kinda Porsche was it? :) (they all look the same to me lol )
