Any idea on when ati will release this and be on sale at overclockers, i just bought brand new pc and all that awaits is the r600.

all i can remember was someone saying the end of this or next month.

yes, but still the same results, TBC.

i have a feeling it wont be out untill about august which temps me to get a graphics card now.

Why dont you just get an 8800 GTX then ?

and did you miss all the other ati threads on this forum somehow !!

will a 8800gtx work in my Gigabyte 965p GA DQ6 motherboard, im a bit of a newbie to computer building. (as you can tell).

just sli wont work in it only crossfire.

thanks, i guess i will get a 8800 then and overclock it, untill the r600 comes then i will get that.

Looks like May 2nd for 2900xt, May 14th for the mid range cards.

Didn't fancy reading one of the many threads already on the front page?

You really haven't researched this card very well have you? What you're suggesting is essentialy a side-grade rather than an upgrade.

Their basically the same thing give or take on the price and a few 3d mark points. If you get an 8800 now you'll want to get whatever the next offering after r600 is.

Get the 8800GTX. The 2900XT is only about as good as an 8800GTS, if that, from what we've seen and the 2900XTX has been delayed for god knows how long. Totally need a  at AMD here.

It's about as good as an 8800GTS and about as cheap, but he's thinking of buying an 8800GTX so how is that helpful? You might as well just tell him to buy an 8800GTS, lol.

Also, the prices you're quoting are RRP. The 8800GTS has had plenty of time to settle and drop now.

That's what you get for being so late to the game.

Who said is "as good as the GTS"? Dailytech's "benchmarks" show the 2900XT is better than the GTS 640MB.

I am surprised how the GTS 640MB is now considered useless since the dailytech article. 1 week ago was "on par" with the GTX on standard resolutions.

No, thats what consumers get for you being late to the game. Thats why we need competition. Is ATI's loss, not ours. They are late, they need to sell cheap!

ps: I bet the 2900s are on OCuK listed with prices for pre order already. The peope who "crack" em out might do it again if there are there, who knows.

The Dailytech benchmarks show it being about the same level of performance unless all you play is Half Life 2: Episode 1. There's no way it's going to cost the same as an 8800GTS 640MB on launch day either.

Oops, just noticed that you're an X1900 owner. Are you one of the ones who put off buying an 8800GTS so you could wait for R600? I was going to do the same and I'd have felt bitter and defensive now too, so I understand. ;)
