well you'd hope AMD would give ATI direct access to limited fabrication, since ATI is fab-less company, X1800 and above were better than there NVIDIA counterparts, 1950 only brought higher overclocking potential and cooler running as they were 80nm, but im sure everyone is writing off R600 before they even see its specification just because there all hyped up about the 8800 series :rolleyes:

Eventually maybe but not for a good few years yet. AMD don't have the capacity and ATi don't have any chips designed with AMD FABs in mind.
but from what i have read and understand of chips, they have to be designed with a specific FAB in mind due to slight differences in the production processes etc.
