The problem for ati and amd is that when vista is released a lot of people will not just buy a os they buy other parts aswell if ati and amd parts are late nvidia and intel will be rubbing their hands.

Q

amd still have decent cpu's available for vista - the majority of the population dont care that much about the cpu - its more about the bottom line and X2's based machines are still cheaper for the same spec , depends what promotions are happening really

People not into computers know about intel a lot more than amd when have you seen a ad for amd on tv, most will go for a intel machine.
Intels cpu's are just as cheap as amd's.
Lot of people who had a amd have now got a c2d,a lot of ground they won with athlon64 they lost to c2d,so it will hurt amd as they the smaller company to intel, intel will spend a lot on ad's over christmas, bet we willn't see many amd ad's on tv.
I am almost ready to upgrade in the new year i more likey go c2d unless amd got something out that beats it at the same price last 3 cpu's have been amd.

AMD are one of the sponsers of the Microsoft Vista / Office 2007 EVO roadshow. When i was chatting to them in Reading, they were very upbeat about vista and had a good buisiness package running the software (Amazingly it was Nvidia chipset and on board graphics)
