Looks like he's got at least half a tank.Is that redline around 5.5k in the RS6?
Also how many petrils do you have (in terms of, of a full tank) with 190 miles remaining?

It's got a variable redline depending on engine temp, normal redline is 7k
Ha the engine was boiling hot at that point, maybe it was asking for some forgiveness
usually get 225-275 miles from a tank which holds 60 odd litres
there are 8 fuel lights (no arrow)
Genuine question, but is that defo a scratch in the carbon (ie, was it there from when you owned it, or has it happened since). It looks strikingly familiar to the outcome of a bad fibre spin during the manufacturing process.

It's interesting that many people won't consider the R8 because of the badge, which is kind of reverse of the run of the mill cars. It is also apparent that anyone who has spent time with a V10 Plus, Mk1 or Mk2 knows they are epic cars and right now, the best value in the segment by a country mile, perhaps 12C apart. Currently discussing this in another place and it's amazing how many people held a negative opinion and then drove one and that changed, surprised them and made them elevate it to the top or close to the top of the cars they would consider next time.
I was the same, I found the R8 V8 nice, good even, but never quite got it, though to be fair I was in a GT3 when I spent most time with the R8. I drove a couple of early V10's and liked that more but never quite felt it was me. When I drove this one I was surprised, it felt rapid, sounded epic, looked great (I never used to like them aesthetically but they have really grown on me) and I thought **** this is good, I'll take it. The RS4 engine issues I was one of the first to suffer put me off the R8 version, not because it wasn't a superb car. I think the R8 needs to be the V10, it just suits the engine much more and it's a huge part of its appeal as well.

That's quite a small tank compared to the competition, the M5 is 80 litres and I often see 420 miles motorway, between 250 and 300 otherwise
Thanks for an awesome read.
Ownership sounds equal parts amazing and frustrating.
That dashboard chunk would drive me insane too.
Do you think you will keep it for a while or are you looking at alternatives?
I think I will keep it for the rest of this year and probably next. The McLaren is simply too much of a risk right now with the current market and where it's heading so the R8 is a safe place to stay and frankly gives me more than enough pleasure. I have just asked for a quote to map it, geo it and put a lightweight sports exhaust on it![]()
