Don't know if this happens to anyone one else but when I overclock my card to certain MHz, my computer will freeze or get black screen, also it says your drivers have stopped working. Don't know if it is the GPU, but I red the forums and a lot of people are having issues! Any solutions?

Does it do it at stock speeds? What speeds have you overclocked to?
You may have just gone to far.

My 290 was black screening even when I underclocked by 30% so it was RMA'd. New one is fine.

they tend to freeze up the system or cause black screens or nice funny colours all over the screen sometimes when ocd with not enough volts and or no custom fan profile.
If its fine at stock and only shows when ocd then it could just be a bad card for over clocking there is no guarantee of any specific oc.
I find the 290 range a lottery at best.

Is it a reference or non reference card? Either way if your not increasing the voltage I would be surprised if it worked.

It seems with 290's, increasing the core voltage helps both core and memory overclocking. I would suggest upping that a bit and see if it helps but it may not be a great clocker. Saying that if its a reference card, going from 947 to 1150 is rather a big jump.

same card, currently suffering this card and is the second card after the first one cost me 25 quid to rma.

fitted the new card this week and is not overclocked.

my machine has never been this unstable.

In your case the black screen is caused by your overclocking and lack of voltage. Increasing the voltage when overclocking will stop the black screen. It happens when you overclock the memory too far. I'd recommend leaving the memory at stock as the gains from overclocking it are small. Focus on the core instead. Memory overclocking on a 290 requires a bump to core voltage once you go past a certain clock. Your mileage may vary.

My core voltage is locked!!

Use MSI Afterburner beta 18, go to settings and tick allow voltage control and monitoring.

try 1080/1400 mine used to be able to do this with no extra voltage, lower the memory clock if you have issues and try again.

Leave the memory at stock and focus on the core first would be my advice. If you get a black screen when overclocking the memory you need more core voltage.
