r9 290 DVI-D to VGA adapter?

IMPORTANT - Can confirm that a DVI-D to VGA adapter will not work with the current set up I have (r9 290). So ill have to buy a new monitor.l that accepts DVI or HDMI. So when buying a new ATI card, pleased ensure you have a digital monitor!

That's a shame mate. :( OK, you'll get a cool new monitor, which is good, but not when it wasn't your preferred choice. Which adapter did you get (make and model of it would mean linking to a competitor) so others know to avoid that one?

The adapter i suggested will work just fine with you're analog monitor , unfortunately most modern high end graphics cards only support digital output , so either buy the adapter or get a new monitor :(.

Umm, need help. Bought a new 1080p monitor, it has a dvi slot, but it didn't come with a bloody DVI cable!!! So off to ASDA to get a HDMI to DVI cable -will this work (unlike the converter we was talking about) or am i safe in getting it?

Cheers.

I posted the exact same question, as someone else above said you need a displayport to VGA adapter. I tried dvi to vga and that didn't work. I have a 290x, not a 290, but the 290x doesn't support analog video
