R9 290 failure (powercolour)

You could just take out the 1066MHz memory and just leave the 2x 2Gb sticks running and see if that does the job before buying new upgraded memory.

Just for the sake of information...

I had the same CPU (i7 930 Skt 1366) i ran it with 2 Memory sticks in Dual Channel mode for a while as one broke.

That never gave me any problems.

Running the dodgy RAM stick did, BSOD and freezing once every few days, i had to run Memtest for 4 cycles before it picked up the problem.

Skt 1366 CPU's seems to have low Memory error tolerance, but they seem ok with just running 2 sticks, as long as both are healthy.

What temps is your 290 running at?

I just got one yesterday and thought it was broken but found I had to make a custom fan profile in MSI Afterburner as it was overheating - 90C+

My card is also a Powercolor 290 OC.

Make sure your memory timings are set correctly, the timing info will be on the side of the RAM sticks and/or on the manufactures website.

Personally I would ditch the odd 1333mhz stick for now and just run the 1066 RAM, set it correctly in the BIOS and then run Memtest as previously suggested.
