R9 290 Help!

might want to check the VRM temps. VRM 1 in particular. if the cores getting hot I'm sure they will be very very hot. 125C kinda hot

O and my 290x has a similar problem as yours get some black screens while my 4k monitor reconnects and some amd message about errors when waking it from sleep mode. usually just reboot and everything runs fine and it's never done it while gaming. think it's the card not getting enough juice and some energy saving features messing with it.

or hell maybe it's just AMD drivers

Whats the best program to check vrm temps on? ive just been using after burner

I use HW monitor not sure whats best but it's pretty good.
as some reference my 290x's core hit a max of 58c today while VRM1 hit 99c and vrm2 hit 70c. it's on one of those AIO watercoolers and overclocked a fair bit but shows how hot the VRM's can get on those 290's. Think it's considered safe up to around 125c range but just something to watch out for when considering the longevity of a card.

Ill give it a try tomorrow and see how hot it gets.

It seems as if when the paste wasnt sufficient when applied as ive been gaming 6 hours straight on full and not maxing over 85.
