R9 290X Owners Thread

I managed to get 1536 in heavan 4 not sure if thats good. The overclock however was not stable in bf4 in those settings. TBH I still suffer from black screening with only moderate OC

Under water with 8350 at 4.3

What clockspeeds and settings were you using for Heaven 4

Im at work at the moment so will have to post exact settings later, they were high though i remember that. I use trixx to OC as it allows voltage increases. I was showing at 1.38 max in gpuz under stress if i remember correctly.

Kaap the settings on your 290 x that gave you upwards of 1600, are they playable in games ???

It depends on the game, somewhere between 1160 and 1180 should be ok for games. @1200 or more in some things I see artifacts.

Will you watercool the RIVE BE Vrms?

Thanks everyone.:)

I probably won't watercool the RIVE BE Vrms, I have a spare RIVE mobo with waterblocks but when I used it with my 3970X it did not make much difference. I think it is worth watercooling though if you have a CPU that can get over 5ghz along with putting a fan at the back of the mobo to cool the other side.

Sold my reference card to a friend and bought the Sapphire Tri-x OC 290x, had some trouble getting it in my case (antec 300 lol), but it's running real cool & quiet.

65-70c in BF4 depending on room temperature.

If you post a pic of your new card I can put you on the Roll of Honour in the OP.

:Facepalm

Another reviewer who does not know how to overclock Hawaii. They wonder why the screen starts to flicker when you overclock the memory past 1500. I can explain that, memory is tied to core voltage. If you'd bothered to increase core voltage a tad (+200mv is allowed they didn't use any) then not only would the core have reached around 1200+ the memory would have been good for 1600 or so.

Morning LtMatt.:D

I went from a 780 to an MSI 290x gaming and I think the 780 is a better card let alone the 780ti.

Once you get the Ref 290X cards on water all the negative things go along with the air cooler.

No more noise
No more Heat
No more throttling

And they look better too.:D
