S'pose you've got to have the stomach for it. I remember seeing once in a butchers shop a bloke cutting the flesh off of and gutting a rabbit and I literally nearly spewed. Put me off of my dinner anyway!

i looked at the first rabbit down the scope, and jsut shot without any hesistation, then went over to it, for a slip second i thought i played god and killed it. then i picked it up and thought... lunch.

These are what I use for little foxy-woxy, and rabbits if need be. Remington .22-250 Polymer tipped, and at just shy of 4000ft/s with the polymer tip acting like a hollow-point it's one seriously deadly round.

Ha, just noticed your sig! You wouldn't be saying that if the little cuties had just ripped apart about £2000 worth of bantams. Not eaten them, just ripped them open and left them there. Foxes are vindictive little vermin!

Anyway, at least my way they don't hear it coming and they most definately don't feel it! One shot = no head, and I mean no head literally!

Is there a god source of information on how to get into rifle hunting in the UK? all the information i seem to find is disjointed and sparse.

Questions like

''How old do i have to be?''

''What are the restrictions on caliber?''

''Where do i apply for a firearm license?''

all need addressing and google doesn't turn up much. would much apprectiate any help.

to shoot with a rifle u need a vermin license, a land owner to give you permission to shoot on, heres my images from last night.

so whats the difference between a vermin license and a firearm license? does a vermin license permit you to use .225 caliber ammunition? also how much would a rifle, scope, rings, safe case cost to get setup? about £1000?

oh, and how do i apply for a vermin license?

I am a big rabbit shooter and I use a CZ .22WMR. I use it for the odd fox but I prefer to snipe rabbits with it. Not many people are going for the WMR now due to the fact that for very little extra and sometimes nothing extra at all , you'd be better to get a .222 which has much more power.

However, if you are only after rabbits then an .22LR is what you want.

the .22 cz is more than enough for rabbits, the guy with me did get a belly shot which made hell of a noise and the rabbit ran off into the hedge.. shame because it was huge and suffered

I don't like it but at least you're way is quick cant disagree with that rather you done it an experienced marksman than some nob on a horse sexually excited about the thrill of the chase .
