Right, I’ve been with the RAC for a few years now and just have the basic cover. I’ve never had to use their services (touch wood!) and I’ve had my renewal through and it’s costing me more than it would for a ‘new customer’ to join.

They want £50 when a new customer can join for £35. I raised this with them last year as I had the same problem and they just extended my cover for an extra month. They said that this is a scheme attract new customers, but is seems once you're a member they’re not interested.

I’ve turned round and said that I won’t renew and sign up as a ‘new customer’ and they said that I wouldn’t be able to sign up again with a new policy until 3 months have elapsed.

Is it just me or does anybody else think this is wrong? I’d go with the AA, but they’re too expensive!

I just using tesco clubcard vouchers and that way it's the same price every year. I get decent cover for what I want for about £33 ish in tesco vouchers.

Swap to green flag or another looking at quidco for cash back then go back to the RAC with clubcard vouchers.

Try RAC but make sure you use topcashback for £20 off a £28 policy. Not bad for £8!!!!!
