Race Driver: Grid

Very funny, wish I had thought of that BTW .

Shouldnt have to when all other games ran at same on that RIG I had then.

The game is a bad port.

Topic aint D1RT BTW, I only agreed with peep above on its running.

For those who are already slating this game, have you even played it? i played a demo of this game, i know previous games have been really bad for its AI and handling of the car but i was shocked when i was playing the demo, great graphics and handling was spot on to what i think makes an enjoyable racing game but with that realism still in there.

Not looking forward to it at all, it looks liek another company have given it to trying to create a racing game, and has added chavtastic options to attract "that" crowd. Why street racing, gimme a track FFS. Seen a couple of videos, and even in *** videos they on purposely ram people off the road, if I wanted that I would buy burnout.

Ill wait until ive tried it, but im not holding any hope up at all.

Why do so many multi platform games come off worse on on PS3?

its usually just a bad port...most the games are made for 360 then ps3 so the ps3 usually comes worse off.
same happens with the pc when games are ported over from consoles....and its not like the pc is less powerful than the consoles.

dirt is a good example of this

fact is the ps3 is more powerful than 360, ok back on topic.

PS3 (theoretically) has a more powerful CPU for SOME OPERATIONS (as said above, number crunching), Xbox360 has a more powerful GPU. PS3 is a bitch to program for and get the best out of, 360 is considerably easier.

Overall it balances out and there isn't much between them. Fact is the only real advantage the PS3 has is the Blu-Ray drive.

Ok, NOW back on topic...........GRID does look like it could be great, I *really* hope the handling doesn't suck :(

Agreed. The main reason i didnt buy NFSPS is because from what i experienced in the demo and what i heard, the handling of the cars was awful and didnt have a good 'feel' to it.

Really hope this will be good, will give me something to play whilst i wait for GT5, then i have my excuse to get a PS3.

This looks good, hopefully the handling is good as my PC is aching for a game to push the gfx boundaries and gameplay combined ever since completing Crysis.`

Irrespective of how it ran, DiRT's car handling was a mess.

What do you mean 'even on the 360'? Are you under some kind of misconception that the PS3 is more powerfull than the 360 or something??

From what I have seen this game looks better than GT5. Sure, at first glance GT5 looks amazing, but look harder and it all looks a bit flat and sterile.

you a 360 fanboy or something?

im still waiting for a pc that we can buy today that can run crysis all maxed out at higher than 1280 x 960 or 1600x1200 res ;)

LOL, awesome, I haven't been accused of being a fanboy for a long time..... :D

No, I'm not a 360 fanboy. It's just that your 'even on the 360' comment sounded like you think it's somehow technically inferior to the PS3 when it actually.............isn't. As I outlined earlier, Blu-ray drive aside there is nothing in it between them as far as 'power' goes.

I have no preferance for one machine over the other, if I'm a 'fanboy' of anything then I'm a fanboy of games in general, and I couldn't give a flying **** weather the hardware they are running on is made by Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo for that matter.

It just looked like you had been sucked in by Sony's BS hype machine, that's all :)

where in my post do i make it appear like if been sucked into sonys hype machine

all i said is that i saw both games at the play event and i thought GRID on the 360 looked "almost"
as good as GT5 which was at the event as well

i dont care for consoles either im a dedicated PC gamer

as for my comment "even on the 360"

no racing game on the 360 that ive seen so far (Forza 2, PGR4) is as good or better than GT5 graphically (IMO)
and i doubt any ever will but i guess we will need to wait and see

/shrugs

Pretty much exactly how I feel too. Just looking at those few screen caps I don't see why I would compare this to Gran Turismo in any way.

My apologies, I clearly mis-read your comment :)

I stand by what I've said about GT5 though, it looks great at first, but the more you look at it the more you see how flat and sterile it looks, the tracks are very copy-pasted without much 'life'. There's no doubting it's a good looking game, Sony have always had a nack of making the GT series look great (the colour pallets and lighting makes them look almost photo-real at first glance), but look harder and there are better looking racers IMO.

For example PGR4 looks better in my opinion, especially the rain. The standing water effects are stunning, as are the raindrops on the bodywork of the cars. All this helps the game look alive and believable compared to the stark sterility of GT5. And to come back on topic, the same goes for GRiD from what I've seen so far.
