Race Of Champions 2012

Just turned this on. What the hell is with the stupid chicane? Health and safety gone stupid. The only mildly exciting thing about these layouts was the jump, and now they have got rid of that.

But its OK, stadiums full... :rolleyes:

What a monumental waste of something that could be so utterly epic.
 
Here's an idea. How about using a larger area like a rally cross track. Maybe a large carpark. If they want to keep it fair they could have 2 layouts, one all tarmac and one with a bit of dirt. Just as long as its bigger and faster and not ruined by stupid safety features to stop the cars getting more than 2cm of air.

Use the Porsche facility at Silverstone? Its not like they actually need the seating capacity of a stadium. Some if the qualifying events used layouts created in the pit lane and main straight of race tracks.

Anything is better than this overgrown scalextric layout.
 
As you said before, something X-Games esque would probably be more entertaining, outside of the stadium too.

They should make a track around the Olympic park that would have been worth a watch. Through the stadium, around the velodrome, jump over the pool :cool:
 
I suppose having it in a stadium makes it easier to find a venue, it could certainly be made much better if they changed it up... As it is it's more a novelty than a decent racing event, but it's still quite fun.

Its a shame, bit the all star karting events are more interesting to watch than this. Actually that's a point, I wonder if Massa is doing his charity event this year? And there's that French one I didn't realise they still did.
 
I can't find any information on either Massas charity karting event or the Paris Masters event happening this year :(

The Paris event is brilliant. I can remember it was about 10 years ago when Schumacher used to have a bright red kart and destroyed everyone.
