Race Pro

I reviewed this recently, and felt that the single player side was decent though it lacked a little something, especially when it came to the presentation. The multiplayer side is very poor though, with no lobby system which means you can go for ages without joining a race and getting started. I gave up after trying unsuccessfully for an hour.

As far as the racing physics goes though, it's as good as you'll find on a console.

Is this any good then? Looking to get it as a present to a mate - only plays SP and only has driving games for his X360 (doesnt have it connected to net so no patching I guess too)...

Anything else to recommend? I know hes got GRID, PGR3/4 idnight Club fan so windering if this is too much sim for him...

Its very sim like ps3udo. I'd personally go for Forza 2 over this even though its an older game. Forza 2 has much more depth.

@ps3udo

The game is pretty good but not a patch on GRID, Forza2 is the best racer on the 360 so you can't really compare that either.
If he hasn't got Forza2 then buy him that & he will Love you long time, Seriously Forza2 is leagues ahead of any other racer on the 360 & is the only game I have owned the entire life of my 360 & I'm on my 2nd now. :p

Forza2 pawns all, Fact. :)

Cheers guys...

I found out hes got Forza2 already and I told him to get GRID - Ive picked it up as I thought if he likes Forza2 then at least hes not just an arcade racer. Hopefully he likes it :p. Though he found GRID hard for a while so I guess he will have to learn that braking is required :p

I think hes got pretty much most good driving games on the PS2/X360...

Jesus I should re-read my posts before posting - so many spelling errors :/

I just played a mammoth 20 hour racing session with 2 mates on xbox live. It was split approximately 15 hours Forza 2 and 5 hours Race Pro. Without doubt Race is the better driving engine, it felt more realistic and more natural with braking and handling, but it still isn't a patch on Forza 2. Sure, we could have more cars in Race and everything but Forza simply seemed less claustrophobic and less gritty. I think if they could combine the driving model of Race Pro with the graphics engine and colours of Forza along with its many other features then I would have the perfect driving game! Hopefully Forza 3 (or shift for that matter) addresses these short comings and especially adds cockpit view!
