First evening TT last night, thought I went round alright, tried to negative split it, but went out too hard, pushing about 270W first half, finished up at 265W (271W NP), which was 30seconds down on my PB, but 16W (12W NP) higher than my PB. I'm a bit chunky at the moment, and weather didn't seem too bad, just a bit frustrating when one of the kids with clip on bars beat me. I had 2 terrible turns which didn't help, think the effects of stag do at the weekend are still hanging around.

League TT on Sunday so hopefully redeem myself as it's over a longer distance and hillier which I seem to favour.

Not always possible, but more training, less binging!

Indeed, got 2 more stag dos, one in 2 weeks, then another 6 weeks after that! But going to get as many mid week TTs in (aiming to do 2 per week unless I have a weekend event.

Although will do next Tuesday/Thursday after Sunday, as legs feel surprisingly spritely today, have got some compression stuff and this does seem to help my legs recover, although could all be in the mind.

Nice one, good effort. What was the distance/time. Pretty good avg to NP so can't have been too variable. What does that work in w/kg for you?

A windy scratch race today just a usual club race.

44km, 440m elevation, one CAT3.

One rider went on an early attack, bunch didn't really want to roll turns or do anything. Got bored after 10km and attacked, had one rider come with me but he didn't want to work.

Had two riders go straight over the top once we were caught. I felt good, but looked to have someone else chase, no one was interested and they pulled away. I thought we might bring them back on the return as it would be a headwind.

Rode tempo up the CAT3, no point dropping anyone, I wouldn't bridge across and needed to stay with the bunch to roll turns over the top.

At the turn around, two chasers had caught the front rider and looked to be working well, but the gap was smaller than I thought. With a headwind for the 20km to the finish I expected to easily pull them in.

Started to try and get rolling turns going with my mate, but nobody else was interested in doing anything. Then people started attacking each other. Seemed we had given up and wanted to race for 4th... We wanted to roll turns and catch the leaders to try and get a place....

Attacks continued and one rider got a jump 5km from the end, we kept him pegged at 5-10 seconds until the last 2.5km then the 3 other riders left with me started to think about the finish. I got on the front of the group and kept working hard, but with nobody rolling it was pointless. Rolled over 6th or 7th after being sprinted by 2 of the 3 other guys, for 5th spot....

Got some extra hills and km in my legs with my mate after, he agreed with me, better to work hard and get dropped than sit in the wheels and get to the end. Make yourself strong by racing!

I noticed the extra weight of riding with my training wheels, responding to attacks hurt big time, trying to get them up to speed!

Average power 284w, weighted average 310w, max 1291w. Average speed 37.4kmh, max 70.9kmh.

My best in a handicap race is 1:05 today was almost 1:11 with the sitting up and game playing. Looking at the Facebook photos I need to get more aggressive with my bike position, I'm wasting too much power by being very un aero!

But, are you able to put out more power from this position :D all about compromise! Very difficult to judge if your loss of power from being more aero is outweighed by energy saving from being in that position and not battling air.

3rd round of the local TT league yesterday morning, cold very windy morning in the sun, didn't have a great start to the day, couldn't get my roof rack onto my car properly, so was late turning up and signed on last.

Day then got better, by dropping my gel on my warm up and then about 5 miles into the TT dropping my bottle, as I went to move my cage due to it being in the way of my 1000.

Didn't have a great race, just couldn't get up for it, finished 15th overall, pushing 237W(248NP) over 22miles, finished in 57:02, but a good 4 and a bit minutes off first! :S Think my late start time didn't help, as the wind picked up, although it was warmer. Should hopefully get a new skin suit on Wednesday as the one I got given is far too large for me.

I think I just need to get some miles and races in my legs now, so going to be doing 2 TTs a week minimum and due to a number of weekends away coming up, will be using these as my resting time, with Fridays as generally my only day off completely.

Another evening another TT, got out of work late, so was pretty much last man off, which meant hanging around for about 45 minutes again. 10 mile TT, fairly flat, but not the greatest of roads, felt a lot better this evening, having swapped back to my old saddle.

Wind was quite punishing on the way out, although seemed to have eased off from earlier, but was a nice change as usually the last 2 miles on this course is hateful, but with the tailwind it made it easier.

Managed to get round in about 24:15 (not sure of official time yet as I shot straight off) Which was 273W (276W NP) so a chunk higher than last Thursday, and think I placed either 5th or 6th out of 57 so much happier with that.

Shall be riding again on Thursday, hoping I can beat my PB on my local course if the weather plays ball, and hope to have my new skinsuit ready for it!

Just need to make sure I'm eating enough over these next few weeks to keep up with doing a few TTs a week plus riding to work + weekend rides!

24:18 and 5th out of 57 now the results are up.

That's good, do you have a set of rollers or anything to keep warmed up on while you hang around?

No, as I ride to the events, don't think I can carry rollers, I just take it easy there and do a 15-20 minute ride before the beginning, usually do a proper warm up when I drive to an event, slowly building up and doing activations but on the road.

ANZAC (Remembrance Day) Handicap Race today.

Very short, only 25km. We got handicapped well out of winning, I can't say I was very impressed with the handicap, everyone should have a chance at winning, the difference between the limit (slowest) and scratch (fastest) groups was 21 minutes..... We saw the leading group with about 4km to go to the finish when our group had about 12km to go!

I was off in the block (second fastest) group of 9 riders, first 5km we shed 3 who were grouped out of their ability really and reduced one guy to sitting on only, so we only had 5 guys working. Was pretty windy, so tough conditions to make up time, everyone contributed and worked together well. We had 2 minutes over the scratch (fastest) bunch and they didn't catch us, took maybe 1:15-1:30 out of us by the finish.

25km, only 120m elevation, Average Speed 41.2kmh, Average Power 319w.

First proper race of the season tomorrow.
184 miles around the cairngorms on the MTB. Route map
Starts at 10am, live tracking here (just me, unfortunately there is no live view of all racers)

If I can stay awake, I'm aiming for under 25 hours. If I need to stop for a sleep, i'll hopefully be under 32.

Handicap race again today.

I got smashed, lack of training after being on holiday for 10 days and not getting in regular weeks before then.

Still averaged 297w over more than an hour and 725m of elevation. Got shelled on the second big hill, but was just holding on before that on all the small ones. Did turns on the flatter sections but wasn't good enough.

New PB at the club 10 tonight, 25:16 pending official results. Crap conditions too, definitely think sub 25 will happen on a nicer day. :) Much better than the 26:27 I did a couple of weeks back.

I did say I would buy a TT bike if I cracked 25 mins though on the club course...

Good work , Do your legs feel like theyve got that speed in them just waiting to come out ?

Did you see Wiggo go past his minute man in that Hull 10 ? The chap was doing 25 mph and looked like he was hardly moving as Wiggo blazed past him
