Unless it's new in this build, there's no penalty for going too far off track. I'm guessing you reset after the T1 incident, and after doing that you have to wait while an imaginary tow truck drags you round the track back from where you crashed to the pits.

Andrew McP

I went too far off at limerock whilst trying to slow myself down and stay out the barrier but fell through the track at the wooded area.

How does SR work? I appeared to get penalties for being involved in accidents even though they were not my fault?

SR is a no-blame system, so if two cars hit each other that's 4 incidents (or 'a 4x') each, doesn't matter who was 'at fault'

Yes it can be a bit 'unfair' at times but it evens out nicely over time :)

So if I go off track, like wide at a corner, but not miles off and 1x pops up, it's still having an effect on my SR?

If it's a manual box then yes, drive it like a road car.

That said not all sequential systems appreciate foot-flat changes.

I appear to go faster when I lift for gear changes but that might be just me.

Is there a newbies guide for iRacing or do I pretty much know all there is to know now?

@Bean0 do you still race? We used to race together in LFS.

Yeah, I recognised you username from back in the day :)

Still active(ish) in LFS, my team did the MoE 24hr just last weekend and got a decent result. We mostly do the endurance events and leagues rather than pick-up races.

I do play iR as well, but keep missing races due to the scheduling. Elkdanger is on there too.

Be nice to race together again sometime.. Add me if you can remember my real name :p

I don't know if i should thank you or shout at you, on the one hand this is really great and i wish i knew about it sooner as i use a reduced fov so don't see the dials all that great. On the otherhand i am now looking at small lcd's so i can run it on that :p

Cant you run it on a netbook and use a network share?

I do have one question regarding SR. Sometimes when I make contact with someone very slightly it displays Car Contact (x0). Does this have any effect on my SR?
Nope.

Just noticed my Oval SR has gone up even though I've never raced on one, means I can participate in those events now though :D

Have you done any qualifying or TTs ?
They also count towards SR, but with a multiplier of 0.35 or so.

It's easier to increase SR once you get out of the Rookie series.
You do longer races on longer tracks, so more corners per race.

Yeah I have. I added you on iRacing btw after I found your name (but can't find elk).

Rookie races are starting to annoy me, I just waited for the race at 12am only for it to be ruined with an idiot that didn't check his mirrors and drove into the side of me.

It happens, still happens in the D races in the Jetta and so on, just shrug it off and go again in an hour, or as soon as the race ends jump into a Quali session and try and beat your quali time to get near the front of the grids.

It was my last race session of the night so I cant go for another as I have work tomorrow :(

Also is there any way to fix the car other than to be towed? I went in the pits but steering was still bent, so I've quit out and now my SR is less than it was before I started tonight!

I did actually watch that out of curiosity. Someone ran into the back of another guy and it spun him across the track. I assume you were the unlucky car he got span right into?

I was the blue mx5.

The crash that took me out was after the complex after the first corner, on the drag up the hill to the flat right.
