Footballers guilty of racist abuse should be sacked by their clubs and banned for up to nine months, according to the body behind plans for a black players' union.
The Society of Black Lawyers has put out a 10-point plan to tackle racism.
It wants matches to be abandoned if there is racial abuse from fans.
The organisation is also demanding referee Mark Clattenburg be suspended while claims he made racial comments to Chelsea players are investigated.

The FA itself must set a clear set of sanctions against racist abuse on the field that reflects the seriousness of the offence

Society of Black Lawyers
In addition, the society has also warned the Football Association and Tottenham Hotspur that it will make a complaint to police unless action is taken against what it says is anti-Semitic abuse taking place at White Hart Lane.
The document was published ahead of a meeting between the FA, Professional Footballers' Association, Premier League and trustees of anti-racism body Kick It Out on Wednesday.
The plan calls for:
a minimum six to nine-month ban for racial abuse, rising to a five-year ban for a third offence
any fines going directly to Kick It Out to fund grassroots anti-racism initiatives
the creation of representative associations for black players, managers and coaches
guidance for referees to send off players using racist abuse and the power to call off games where the crowd is using such abuse
a 20% quota at all levels of the FA, PFA, clubs as well as football agents and referees
racial abuse to be a matter of gross misconduct incorporated into players' contracts
clubs to invest in the personal education of all players, including university or college education
recording referees and assistants during matches to pick up any possible abuse by players.
a system for reporting racial incidents to be set up with details of such incidents, both on and off the pitch, published each year
The society is involved in talks to create a Black Players' Association with some professionals, claiming the football authorities are not doing enough to represent them or to tackle racism in the sport.
The PFA recently introduced its own six-point action plan but the society says this will prove "ineffective".
The legal group says more needs to be done to engage with black players and adds that recent punishments for racist abuse given to Chelsea captain John Terry and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez have left some black footballers disillusioned.
Terry was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 by the FA for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, while Suarez received an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra.
The society described those sanctions as "a slap on the wrist", adding: "The FA itself must set a clear set of sanctions against racist abuse on the field that reflects the seriousness of the offence."
It also says it will report any anti-Semitic chants at Tottenham games to the Metropolitan Police unless the club and FA show they are acting.
Peter Herbert, who chairs the group, said: "In discussions with members of the Jewish community, we were made aware that this practice is still continuing and it has to come to an end.
"If neither Tottenham FC nor the FA are willing to take a stand then SBL will report the matter to the Metropolitan Police Service for investigation and, if necessary, prosecution. The report will be made if this behaviour does not cease by 20 November. We will have monitors in attendance to observe what occurs."
Wednesday's meeting between Kick It Out and a selection of football's leading authorities is a scheduled get-together of the anti-racism charity's trustees.

Now, here is my opinion, they want everyone to be equal....so why make a seperate organization in the first place? Frankly I think it is people just trying to make a name for themselves.

The part I have real issue with as a Spurs fan are the 2 following snippets:

In addition, the society has also warned the Football Association and Tottenham Hotspur that it will make a complaint to police unless action is taken against what it says is anti-Semitic abuse taking place at White Hart Lane.

It is clear they are talking about the "YIDS" chant (If the word is not allowed then please remove or simply put "Y") In my opinion this is ridiculous, it is not anti-semetic in any way shape or form, it was pointed at Spurs fans in the past and to take the stigma away we took it upon ourselves and now use it as a show of support.

The mind boggles it really does, I cant understand how anyone can think almost the entire stadium are turning up to be anti semetic!? It is exactly the same at my very local ground of Woking where we chant "CARDS"

Im not sure where im going with this other than...WTF.

Opinions?

Opinion: load of rubbish.

Abuse is abuse. Are they going to ban everyone that calls a keeper fat whilst he kicks a ball? Call the man in black a ****er or chants that he doesn't know what he's doing? Boos a player? Chants 'where's your caravan' at a player with long hair?

Load of rubbish.

There is a worrying trend in the game now. The society of black lawyers needs to be stopped now before they ruin the game for good. Racism seems to have been elevated to a point where it is worse than any other form of abuse. Why? Abuse is abuse, full stop.

Thank god, I saw red as soon as I read the article and thought I may have gone crazy. Idiots. In cases such as this its a shame swear words are starred.

And breathe DiCe!

one thing I don't like is this 20% quota at all levels?

this is discrimination against non minoritys. surely this means that a black candidate would be given preference over a better qualified white candidate? but its ok because the discriminated party is white so it doesn't matter.

fair enough campaign for equality but what they want is to be treated better than their peers

people should also remember that racism is a 2 way street it flows both ways

Sure, if found guilty by the courts, why not.
But by the FA and their non-independant-yet-claimed-independant panel who use the balance of probability to decide?
No thanks.

This.

It is blatantly disc tomatoey they should hang their heads in shame. We are all equal, unless you are from X minority and we will treat you better.

That's not equality its discrimination (albeit positive) and I find it hugely ironic they think that discrimation is an acceptable tool to tackle discrimination.

Morons.

A lot of this stinks of the clown in charge of the black lawyers trying to make a name for himself though. Tell him to shove off.

You often hear sexist remarks too. Namely from sepp Blatter but also in the stadiums. You big girlor sexist and ageist. I.e my granny could have scored that. Yet not so much outrage.

I completely agree, ban racist players. I doubt that you will find any players that are genuinely racist however. Every team plays with black players. When players make racist remarks, it doesn't mean that they are a racist. Suarez I am almost certain is not racist yet he abused a black player by using a racist term.

I am not completely au fait with racism but as far as I understood it, people who are racist don't hug black people or surround themselves with them. They are usually really easy to spot because they are mostly thick, ignorant and quite vocal in showing it.

People say stupid things in the heat of a moment but it doesn't mean that they believe what they said.

The whole Spurs/yids issue is an interesting one and I really don't know what my opinion on it is. It seems socially acceptable for black people to use the n-word as a term of endearment. The Spurs fans certainly use yid in a similar way as a term on endearment but most of the fans aren't Jewish these days.

Yup, its basically not surprising, a "normal" person using a racist word in a one off situation is not even slightly rare, or I should say, a person who slips out a derogatory word against just about every kind of group out there is not rare at all, be it fat, ginger, black, poor, toff, boffin, anything really. its the same as anything, if a person is fat and don't care, then someone calling them fat isn't very hurtful, if a person is sensitive about being called fat, then someone calling them that can be very hurtful. Silly as it is, if people didn't care about being called black.... people wouldn't be hurt by being called black, and consequently, it wouldn't occur to people to call people black to hurt them in the heat of the moment.

I can't stand groups like this, I've said before there are groups who banded together faught real causes, they gain power amongst their peers in doing so.... and very very few people like to give up power. Just about every group that campaigns for something real.... eventually ends up campaigning for made up causes in an effort to maintain momentum in their group to maintain their power. Feminists, groups for racism, all the way down to some idiot who opposes some local building being made, finds themselves the head of some commity, who likes being the leader, who then tries to oppose everything everywhere for no god damned reason.

Racism amongst players is a TINY issue in the UK these days, there in lies their problem, without anything to campaign about they pick up any tiny use of the word black and instantly attack.

People say stupid things in the heat of the moment, I doubt anyone on here can say they've never said anything they didn't mean during an argument, nor can basically anyone on earth. You can say and do things in the heat of the moment that you don't believe or would never do given the choice before hand, and anyone making the argument that people always have a choice and never react without thinking... are arguing against what is proven human behaviour.

The difference between saying black in the heat of the moment when angry/emotional/adrenaline running, and saying it repeatedly given time to think and deliberately, is night and day. The problem is, we let these groups, feminists, racial equality groups, general over PC groups become so powerful to start with that when they start pushing their own agenda's in general people are too scared to be branded... whatever that group happens to be against, to stand up and say STFU you bunch of morons.

You'll see it hear, rather than the FA saying, go away, stop being idiots, because they are scared a group will call them racist or accuse them of protecting racists, so they'll (pretend to) take them seriously... which just gives them more effective power.

Thats the heart of the issue really. You cannot downplay a situation or apply a rationale to it when there is so much hysteria about the whole thing.

I would just love it if one of the black liverpool players came out and said "while there is no place for racism in football, we have to decide when someone is racist and when someone has said something racist". How can Suarez be racist when he has so many black players around him and always has.

You always hear a brief quote from a old team mate who was black in their defence but no one ever stands up and says "stop trying to find racism where there is none".

Football clubs should not be afraid to stand up to players who have done wrong, they should not blindly defend and they should not force everything in to tribalism.

While, I agree with the principal, sack players that have done wrong. I'm not so sure on the ins and outs of the proposition.

Good in theory but I really can't see a top side sacking a £30m player to see him sign for another club for free 9 months later.
