My radeon 4850 suddenly stopped working after almost 3 years of use and I am now looking for an equivalent card. I came across the 6670 and was wondering if it was a suitable replacement?

Thanks.

Damn, these are quite expensive. Are there no alternatives which are around the £50-70 region?
No...you would have to look at 2nd hand at that price range. There's nothing new worth getting at that price point, as they won't be faster than your 4850.

May be keep an eye out for on OcUK putting the 6850 on sales for under £85 again. They would be good replacement and upgrade from the 4850. But if you simply want a replacement for your 4850, you could try getting a 2nd hand 8800GT. It is slightly slower than the 4850, but only cost less than £20 if you are lucky.
