Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Imo people here saying you should get the 970 instead are deluded, I'm sure the RX 480 is more powerful than a 970 in terms of hardware and has full DX12 support.

With Nvidia's track record, I would not be comfortable buying their last gen cards, especially those which are missing DX12 features.

Probably asked a million times:

2x Radeon 480 8Gb or 1x GTX 1070.

I can get both for relatively the same price (doesn't matter where or how).

For DX12 buying the Maxwell cards is a false economy IMO. That said I'm not sure what the 480's future in DX12/Vulkan will be as once games come out with more demanding use of it at the end of the day the 480 is still a mid-range card and barely even that in respect to "next generation" and may not have that long a useful life if bigger more powerful cards in the line up do come out (as developers will see those bigger cards as their target for top end).

Wait for CF benchmarks and FCAT numbers. Would personally go for the GTX 1070 just because a single GPU never has support issues in newer games, and it wouldn't be too fun to have to realy on a single RX 480 for gaming in those cases.

At £175 the 4gb version seems a reasonable buy to me.

Careful, you're trying to come up with a common sense argument amongst all the trolling? Come on now, thats not on at all!

Will this be an improvement over my 7950 at 1440?

Lol, yes. By quite a margin. I had a 7950 replaced it with a 390 and the performance was roughly doubled and these are similar in performance to a 390.

SLI and Xfire support in general is poor. So if you can afford it a single card solution wins everytime.
