Radeon VII

Ok still on page 91 of the thread, but I've just got in and I see they are still in stock albeit at £799. So either demand isn't as strong as expected, or performance isn't. I suppose it's always possible Gibbo found a load more, but I doubt it.

Right off to go read a few reviews and then ill come back and read the rest of the thread.:)

They've sold a couple at £799, though i'm not sure who would want to pay £150 over the sapphire price.

I think it's more likely that nobody sane wants to pay £799 for a card that was and will soon again be available for £649

I am SUPER excited to see what this thing can do with an AIO, given that it is thermally throttled. Dumb ass overclocking/volt control on this one though.

p.s. I saw that upping the tension on the cooler (with washers) dropped temps by 10degrees on the junction sensor.
Roman managed to got the card up to 2100Mhz with dry ice but AMD said there was nothing they could do at driver level to improve performance, which is crazy. Any overclocking resulted in the card performing worse, so I do expect something to be sorted from AMD with overclocking.

The problem I've got is that my Acer XR341CK is 75hz (Freesync) and all the games that I play run MAX'd at 3440 x 1440, so until I change my monitor or play something that stinks at 3440 x 1440 @75 Hz there's just no point me upgrading

25 – 30% faster than Vega 64 is nice enough but I don’t need to upgrade Vega 64 yet (at 1440p) and I don’t need the 16Gb VRAM yet. But new gpu season is always good!

Sorry to hear it, I was lucky this time that makes up for the 14nm Vega launch, When 14nm Vega released I thought I had one just to find out the next day when it never turned up that I'd missed the stock and only had a pre-order so today I phoned up to confirm whether I had got it and apparently I was the second order so yay. You pre-ordered thorough yes? If you haven't you should as Gibbo said he has made an agreement with AMD so all orders are honoured at the Sapphire price (I think), unless you order one of the others of course, Powercolor was the next cheapest but they only have a 2 years warranty where as now Gibbo's arranged a 3 year warranty with Sapphire.

Unfortunately Sunday I am leaving the country, without an address any more here, and OCUK not shipping where I go, is impossible :(

Looks like there could be a slight issue with the mounting of the heatsink, scroll down on this page to the backplate pic. He installed washers which reduced the "junction temp" 10c which leads to lower fan noise.

Am I right in assuming that all I have to do is take off the 4 screws and put the washers under the bracket? Or are there other things that I would have to be wary of before taking out the screws and taking off the bracket?

Unsure, watch a teardown vid and that should show how. Probably need plastic washers so nothing gets shorted.

Somewhere nice I hope.

I saw that too but I'm not sure I want to do that as I'm a bit of a dolt & knowing my luck I'll break something over tightening them. I'm not sure why AMD thought changing the way the clocks work in Wattman would be a good idea, It shouldn't be too long until we get a compatible verion of something like Overdrive though.

I'd expect that to be pretty much spot on. Since reviewers are saying the drivers are quite shaky, well below AMD's usual standards, I suspect in a few months the R7 will have no trouble edging out the 2080.

I didn't think we had a driver for it yet, I'm sure new one's will be incoming so it's just a case of us all reporting the issues so they know what to fix.

Me too :D:D:D Order shipped or Ready to collect

Good news then :D You should have had a games email sent to you by now as well. :)

i think at £799 the 2080 is the better option.
